Hello
My name is Ela Niznik, I am a Contemporary Craft Maker. I graduated with a 1st Class Honours degree in Creative Practice from the Manchester School of Art in 2013. My making has been relatively dormant until I was made redundant in January 2016. I set up a ceramicĀ studio at my home and have spent the last year developing my creative ideas and refining my products.
During my studies I was encouraged to practice within two material & process areas, this has remained my appproach to making. Firstly, I am a ceramicist. I make every Porcelain Piece by hand and decorate with nostalgic images, photographs or text from my vintage collections. I also work extensively with laser cutting technologies. I have designed a range of floral stems that can compliment my ceramic vessels, as well as other ornaments and figurines.
Continuing my passion of vintage ephemera all my Lasercut work usues up-cycled papers that I laminate onto plywood. This allows me to create unique, one-off decorative pieces.
